Amy Bryant
Veterinary Assistant
Amy joined the AFAH team as a Veterinary Assistant in May, 2005. She had just moved here from her home, Cape Cod, Massachusetts where she had worked for six years as a Kennel Supervisor at Hyannis Animal Hospital. She moved to Loudoun County in search of a change and a new outlook on life.
This proud, Cape Cod native graduated from Sandwich High School in Massachusetts in 1994. After graduation, she attended Cape Cod Community College and completed two years of coursework. Amy’s love for animals drew her away from college so that she could work full-time at the animal hospital. Over the years, she has continually gained recognition for her strong work ethic through promotions and kudos from her employers.
Amy has chosen veterinary medicine as a career because of her love for animals, stemming from her childhood. She has always had a natural desire to reach out and help any animal in need. At age 11, Amy started volunteering at the local SPCA, which she enjoyed for years. Later in her teens, she chose to work at George Steinbrenner’s 800 acre race horse farm in Ocala Florida for 8 months. This was Amy all time favorite job. It was here that Amy knew her destiny. “It’s simple really, this is what I’m meant to do,” she admits.
Amy shares her home with two wily Australian Cattle Dogs, Callie Bay and Juneau Marie. Callie was abandoned at the Hyannis Animal Hospital after being rejected from her family. Amy fell in love with her and decided to rescue her. She acquired Juneau shortly thereafter, from a breeder far away in Alaska! By Amy’s own admission, “My dogs are WILD and CRAZY, but that is why I love them!”
Amy’s favorite activity is spending time with her family, friends, and boyfriend. She also enjoys traveling and photography. Something that sets Amy apart from most people: she loves the Dave Matthews Band so much that she will travel ANYWHERE to see the band play. She is an active fan club member, knows the words to every song ever written, and has seen them live over 55 times. Strange – yes! But also very impressive! One of Amy’s greatest moments was in 2001, when she actually met Dave after a show.
Amy has a knack for motivating others through her high energy and winning personality. She is direct, honest, and a hard worker. Her love of animals is apparent in their reaction towards her. Our patients are always at ease when Amy is there to help them through their procedures. For these reasons and many more, we at AFAH are very fortunate to have Amy on our team.
