Marisa Linnan
Veterinary Assistant

Marisa

Marisa joined the AFAH team as a Hospital Attendant in February, 2004. Since then, she has been promoted to Veterinary Assistant.

Chicago born and Northern Virginia raised, Marisa graduated from Stone Bridge High School in 2004. Since graduation, she has been working for us full-time while planning to enroll in Massage Therapy School and Esthetician training. Although Marisa’s long-term career goals involve massage therapy, she loves her current position and will continue to work here during her schooling.

Marisa has always loved animals. She shares her home with two black cats. Onyx, her male kitty, is very shy and often scared. Bean, the girl, is quite the opposite. Marisa describes Bean as “a spitfire”. Marisa started “fostering” Bean a little less than a year ago and it is obvious that she won’t be going to any other home besides her own!

Marisa has always been an achiever. She started her cheerleading career in 2nd grade, made the varsity team all four years of high school, and was accepted as an All American Cheerleader for three years in a row. This is where cheerleaders all across the country try out to be recognized for outstanding skills and only a select few get accepted. In addition, she was awarded for outstanding achievement in Art during her four years of high school. As an active member of her community, Marisa was a spokesperson for S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions) and led a special lecture on destructive decisions during her senior year which taught her peers how to handle the pressures of being teens.

In addition to her long list of achievements, Marisa enjoys many hobbies. Her favorite pastimes are spent dancing, doing arts and crafts, and cooking. Marisa is definitely a people person. She enjoys doing whatever it takes to put a smile on someone’s face and says that she will “do anything to accomplish this goal, no matter how stupid it makes me look.”

As an employee, Marisa has continued her role as “The Cheerleader”. She motivates her coworkers to have fun and find joy in the day. She loves to clean – since Marisa has joined our crew, all the stainless steel shines, the walls gleam, and the hospital smells of fresh linens. She is also quite the artist and craftsperson and has taken it upon herself to decorate the hospital lobby every month with homemade crafts that accurately reflect the season. Clean, spirited, and pretty – that’s our Marisa!
